Verizon, the largest CDMA network provider in the US has already announced they will adopt GSM standard for their 4G network. That pretty much puts an end to CDMA.

Verizon claims it will make them more competitive in the world market.

    According to Verizon, they will not be getting rid of their CDMA2000 network and will continue to build upon it while building a 4G network – http://investor.verizon.com/news/view.aspx?NewsID=872
