Are Refurbished Cell Phones As Good As Brand New Cell Phones?

My first cell phone broke- the speakers died two weeks after I got it. So my dad took it back to the Verizon store today. I wanted the same kind of phone, and the only ones they had of the same kind were refurbished ones. So I got a refurbished one. It's a VX8300 (if anyone else has that phone). So what I'm wondering is WHY phones are refurbished? Are refurbished phones as good as brand new phones?
Guess what!? THE PHONE HAS ALREADY BROKE!!!!! I am outraged! Three out of the four buttons on the dial don't work today. So it's back to the Verizon store we go....And THIS TIME, I WON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE OF GETTING AN LG! LG phones are s***!

No, not really.

New is new, by definition the refubished one is something that some one else already returned because it didn't work.

They took it, fixed it, and in most ways made it like new but its still something someone returned.

I'm surprised they did that. I would of though they would of given you the upgrade to the 8350.

I buy refurbished items when ever I can..they are proven to work to be resaleable..where new products are only spot checked…I have refurbished, cell phones, digital camera, circular saw, scroll saw, drill motors and more…they cost less and most often are much better…these items are traded in or returned because they didn’t work the first time when they were new…

    Refurbished phones ALWAYS have problems.

When I lost my LG, Verizon’s insurance replaced it.

The first replacement had bad signal reception.
The second replacement didn’t have all the features working.

I don’t know what xyz is talking about but refurbished is NEVER better then a new product is. Cheaper yes, but that’s it.
See, refurbished isn’t the way to go.
